The Beauty of the Story of Abraham Almost Sacrificing Isaac
By: Reverend Kristy Anderson
The sacrifice of Isaac by Abraham is a paramount narrative in the Book of Genesis. Although some may find God's actions perplexing, the story can be interpreted as profoundly beautiful. God initially promises Abraham and Sarah a son.
Upon fulfilling this promise, God subsequently instructs Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, the promised son. Abraham dutifully takes Isaac to a mountain and commences the sacrificial process. However, he is promptly halted by an angel, who commands him not to harm the boy (Genesis 22:12).
The inherent beauty of this narrative lies in the reciprocal trust between God and Abraham. Abraham, recognizing God's unwavering commitment to His promises, obeyed His command.
As a testament to Abraham's profound love for God, demonstrated by his willingness to sacrifice his only son with Sarah, God reciprocated this love by sacrificing His own son. This divine sacrifice served to liberate Abraham's descendants and Gentiles from the confines of Sheol after death, enabling them to return to God for judgment or the eternal reward of His presence
Abraham's unwavering trust in God fostered a divine trust in him, leading God to choose his lineage for salvation. While few individuals today possess knowledge of or trust in the true God of Abraham, those who make daily sacrifices just for God’s name and for His truth, know that he has not forgotten you and he always shows up right on time.
There are many people who are discriminated against everyday for Jewsish and Muslim Beliefs but in due time the whole world will know the truth and God will give justice where it is due.
